A right royal fightback as Prince make it 4 out of 4!

PRINCE of Wales are the only team retaining a 100 per cent record aftery beating Vale Hoppers 6-2 at Birchall.

Hoppers set the pace in the first half racing into a 2-0 lead but Sam Wainwright (43) and Jamie Pope (44) rescued Prince just before the break.

Prince were much stronger in the second half with Jake Gordon (70) hitting a superb half-volley. Greg Johnston (75) scored from the spot, Gordon (78) completed his brace and Jamie Pointon finished off with a 25 yard free-kick into the top corner.

Dyers Arms moved two places to fourth with their third win away to Bulls Head, scoring four without reply.

Dom Grindey and Jordan Taylor gave them a 2-0 lead at the break. Declan Heath made it three with a bullet header and he doubled his tally from a superb through ball from Dom Grindey.

There was a closelycon­tested game at Birchall between Breaks FC and AFC Wellington.

Breaks FC opened on the halfhour mark through Anthony Chisholm. Wellington came close, hitting the crossbar with a header from a superb cross by Jack Shepherdso­n. Pete Bassett was man of the match for Wellington holding the midfield together and Wellington equalised just after the restart as Benji Rooke fired home from the halfway line. Matt Shone hit the decider for Breaks in the 78th minute.

Champions Golden Lion jumped four places to the top of the table with a 23-0 win over bottom club Breaks United. Lion dominated from the start and were 10 up by half-time.

Lion made changes in the second half to continue the romp. Jermaine Leveridge helped himself to a double hat-trick, with trebles coming from Lee Anderson, Scott Dixon and Aaron Walker. Mike Harrison and Raz Stewart scored a brace apiece and Danny Hayes, Craig Hayes, Chris Burgess and Nathan Jackson topped up with singles.

Breaks Athletic still seek their first points of the season after losing 6-0 to Waterhouse­s.

Athletic made a steady start, but goals from Jake Binns (17) and Richard Weaver (39) gave Waterhouse­s a 2-0 at the interval.

Although Athletic made changes at half-time, it was without effect as Stuart Robinson (53 and 61) hit a brace and Daniel Buxton (66) and Jimmy Mcmullen (80) rounded off the victory for the visitors, lifting them up to second place.

Buxton Stags took a week off from Leek and District Sunday League action to meet AFC Millers in the first round of the Derbyshire Sunday Cup.

Pete Richardson (10) opened the scoring, but Sherlock levelled for Millers six minutes later.

Rick Carr restored Stags’ lead in the 20th minute with Jack Gregory (30) and Rick Carr (35) making it a comfortabl­e 4-1 lead at the break.

Dan Gilbride (65) hit Stags’ fifth, but Sherlock (73) reduced the deficit to complete his brace.

Pete Richardson (85) and Colin Moss (89) completed the scoring to give the Stags an easy 7-2 win.
