‘I’m so proud of her strength

A MOTHER has nominated her daughter for an award after she gave her family brilliant support through tragic circumstances.

Nicola Burnett has put Jasmine Burndred forward for the child or teenager of courage accolade in the Moorlands Heroes Awards.

Nicola, from Biddulph, says: “In 2015 I travelled to Turkey with my husband, 17-year-old son Jordan and daughter Daisy who was three. My eldest daughter, Jasmine, who I’m nominating, couldn’t travel with us as she had just been accepted at Leicester University so we had settled her into her new home for the next three years and off we went on holiday.

“On the third morning we went down to the pool and Jordan and his little sister went to play in the pool. He was a confident swimmer and very fit and healthy. Out of the blue Jordan started to gasp for breath and it was quite clear he was in distress.

“We managed to pull him out of the pool and he started to turn blue. CPR was instantly started and he was rushed to hospital and put on a life support machine.

“I contacted family back home and they began to fly over realising how serious Jordan’s condition was. Jasmine’s passport had run out so she had to leave Leicester to travel to Liverpool to get an emergency replacement, then she got straight onto a flight to Turkey.

“While in Turkey Jasmine was an amazing support to me and my husband. As I wouldn’t leave the hospital Jasmine took care of her younger sister the whole 10 days we were there. She was clearly worried and distressed about her brother’s condition
