Anti-social behaviour leads police to close house on town estate
OFFICERS from the Moorlands Neighbourhood Policing Team have served a closure notice on a house in Leek following concerns from local residents.
The property on Queens Drive has been subject to a number of incidents involving anti-social behaviour in recent months and has been closed under Section 80 of the Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act.
The closure notice was granted by magistrates at the North Staffordshire Justice Centre in Newcastle-under-lyme last week.
Chief Inspector Mark Thorley, Commander for Moorlands Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “Anti-social behaviour in Moorlands communities will not be tolerated and we will continue to use ASB legislation to close properties and remove nuisance tenants.
“If you are experiencing anti-social behaviour where you live, please call us on 101 and we will work together with our partners to take the appropriate action to deal with offenders.”
Ward district councillor for the area, Charlotte Atkins, right, has welcomed the news.
She said: “I am very pleased that action has now been taken.
“There have been a number of incidents and the property was becoming unsafe. This will be a big relief for people in Queens Drive.”
