LEEK PHOTOGRAPHIC CLUB

-

AN OPEN competition was held for a black and white, mono or infra red (pdi) photograph, and there was a massive entry of 89 from 26 members.

The judge was Dave Tucker EFIAP/B, DPAGB, CPAGB, BPE3 and he held back 32 images which made for a nail-biting second round, but meant many hopefuls with excellent images either did not make the cut, or fell at the last review.

Many members had close run things with very high standards across all their entries – notably Ray Baddeley and Tony Kinder who had three out of four brilliant images with awards but not quite matching Len Claydon’s four out of four in the first competition.

However, the league table now has a very different look and it’s anybody’s race - a big spread of names in both awards and entries.

And congratulations to Cliff Hughes, a worthy winner with “The Barracks, (Cymorthin)”.

Yvonne had the unluckiest of nights with exceptional images including my favourite - that enigmatic Swan Feather – a theme I would like to see more of, while the Wild Rabbit and Magpie Mine surely deserved more?

Other personal favourites of mine were the Gentoo Penguins, The Tattooist, Leaps and Bounds and Jet Pilot, what great images that in this case did not catch the judge’s eye.

Please keep entering to make other evenings as great.

And if like me your favourite image

(the chicks as Bathing Beauties) were overlooked, don’t give up, the next judge might see things differently.
