Digger delivers £2.5k boost to Horton Lodge
PUPILS attending a Staffordshire Moorlands Community Special School have received a donation delivered in style.
A £2,500 cheque to fund an interactive whiteboard was presented to the headteacher of Horton Lodge, Sarah Latham, by JCB.
The cheque was delivered in a yellow digger where the children were treated to a demonstration of the mini excavator and invited into the cab of the machine,
Presenting the cheque on behalf of the company was JCB employee Jakub Piaszyk whose daughter Natalia, 10, is a pupil at the school.
Jakub, a trustee of Horton Lodge’s Parents and Staff Fundraising Association, said: “The school is an outstanding place with teachers and staff who make a massive difference to the lives of our children, many of whom have complex physical disabilities and educational needs. The donation will really help support the pupils’ learning for many years to come.”
Horton Lodge Community Special School headteacher Sarah Latham said: “It is wonderful that our school is supported by JCB. Our ethos is around developing independence and communication so that our pupils can live fulfilling lives.
“Due to the complex needs of our pupils, specialist equipment is key in this; the interactive whiteboard is portable meaning that all pupils will be able to access it for learning and fun!”
