Sign up for festive run in village

THERE’S still time for those thinking of taking part in the annual Cheddleton Christmas Pudding Run to enter.

The race takes place on Saturday, November 24.

It’s proved to be a very popular event over its 35-year history, raising money for Cancer Research, and race organiser Stan Winterton, who has been involved with the race since day one, is hoping for another good turnout. “Runners from far and wide come to support us at Cheddleton. It’s certainly proved to be a popular race over the years,” said Winterton who has never taken part himself. He explained: “I’ve far too much to do on race days to be taking part,” said Winterton who reports a steady number of entries so far. Over the 35 years, more than £110,000 has been raised for Cancer Research and Winterton say it’s been a fantastic effort.

“Many voluneers have given up their time over the years to help organise the event, it’s been a great team effort. To have raised more than £110,000 is fantastic effort from everyone.”

More than 271 runners finished last year’s race which was won by Simon Myatt of Trentham Running Club. He finished a minute clear of Boalloy’s Carl Moulton.

The main race starts at 2pm and follows a familiar route through Cheddleton, and there is a two-mile fun run at 1.40pm.

All finishers will receive a Christmas Pudding and there are prizes for the first 20 finishers plus ladies and veterans categories.

Pre race entry fee is £11 for affiliated members, £13 unaffiliated. Entry on the day with be £2 extra.

Postal entries can be sent to Stan Winterton, Brund

Bank House, Cheddleton, Staffordshire. ST13 7LD.
