Shrewsbury Town ........... 0 Leek Town Ladies ........... 4

LEEK Town Ladies racked up a 10th straight win with victory at Shrewsbury Town.

Leek started well with Bethany Cottrell, Chantelle Gallagher and Katie Gibbons all going close with half chances.

Shrewsbury had a 20-yard shot saved by Leek keeper Hannah Austin.

The breakthrough came on 18 minutes when Alana Copeland put Gallagher through and she slotted home. Five minutes later Rhian Morris made a good run through the Shrewsbury defence and got a shot away which was agonisingly wide.

Leek won a corner taken by Lacey-may Smith and headed in by Gallagher for her and Leek’s second goal.

Shrewsbury came out for the second half and put Leek under pressure as birthday girl Emma Smith and then Chloe Brown both made excellent challenges and cleared the danger.

Substitute Michaela Lockett had a good run down the left towards goal but couldn’t get her shot away.

Rhian Morris then had the ball in the net but the offside flag disallowed the goal.

Five minutes later Gallagher put Lockett through one against one with the keeper and she finished well.

After 80 minutes Gallagher ran down the left and around the back of the Shrewsbury defence, before pulling the ball back across goal into the path of Alice Painter, who fired into the roof of the net for Leek’s fourth.
