PLANT OF THE WEEK
VIBURNUM X BODNANTENSE ‘DAWN’
Some of the delights of autumn and winter are the delicious fragrances that come wafting through the air.
Viburnums such as farreri and bodnantense produce small flowers with a powerful perfume. ‘Dawn’ is a well known and loved cultivar whose dark pink buds open to release its sweet scent.
Flowering on bare stems from November sometimes through to as late as March, this shrub can be planted on a walkway near an entrance where you get to enjoy its fragrance every day.
It likes average well-drained soil in sun or partial shade.
It’s not so interesting for the rest of the year so it could be planted amongst other shrubs and perennials that will entertain during the spring and summer.
