Still time to enter big pudding race

-

A BUMPER turnout is expected for Saturday’s annual Cheddleton Christmas Pudding run and there is still time to enter.

The race has proved to be a popular event over its 35-year history, raising money for Cancer Research.

Race organiser Stan Winterton, who has been involved with the race since day one, is reminding runners who have not yet entered, they can do so on the day. He said: “Runners from far and wide come to support us at Cheddleton. It’s certainly proved to be a popular race over the years and once again, if runners have left it late they can enter on the day.”

Over the 35 years, more than £110,000 has been raised for Cancer Research.

More than 271 runners finished last year’s race which was won by Simon Myatt of Trentham Running Club. He finished a minute clear of Boalloy’s Carl Moulton.

The main race starts at 2pm and follows a familiar route through Cheddleton, and there is a two-mile fun run at 1.40pm.

All finishers will receive a Christmas Pudding and there are prizes for the first 20 finishers plus ladies and veterans categories.
