THE streets of Leek were packed on Friday night as thousands of people descended into the town for the annual lights switch-on.

The evening, which had been organised by Leek Town Council’s events committee, began with a parade at 6.30pm from Moorlands House in Stockwell Street to St Edward’s Street into Derby Street where a stage was located for the entertainment and opening ceremony.
