OAKAMOOR: Holy Trinity Church in Oakamoor will be holding a Christmas Coffee Morning on Wednesday, December 5, from 10.30am at Oakamoor Village Hall, Carr Bank, with stalls, a raffle and refreshmen­ts.

CELLARHEAD: Dog rescue charity Animal Lifeline with be staging a Christmas Fayre on Sunday, December 2 to raise funds for the scores of abandoned dogs in its kennels. From 2-4pm, the fayre – at Moorville Hall Hotel, Leek Road, Cellarhead – will have stalls offering gifts, bric-a-brac, toys, home-made cakes and other items, including a range of hand-made dog-themed jewellery and gift packs. Admission is 50p and parking is free.

LEEK: John Hall Garden on Fowlchurch Road, Leek, is holding another open day on Saturday, 9am-4pm. There will be an assortment of autumn plants for sale with a wide range of perennials, as well as primroses, cyclamen and wallflower­s suitable to plant now.

LEEK: Stuart Townend & Band will be in concert at St Edward’s Church, Leek at 7.30pm on Saturday. Tickets at £12 each from the church office 01538 388134 or leekparish@gmail.com.

IPSTONES: A Christmas fair is to be held at St Leonard’s First School this Friday, 5-7pm.

There will be a variety of stalls along with face painting, glitter tattoos, Santa’s grotto and refreshmen­ts including soup, burgers and chips.

Following the fair, off Brookfield­s Road, there will be a lantern parade with Santa walking with the children from the school to St Leonard’s Church, where a festival of lights is to take place.

Between 6pm and 9pm, the friends of St Leonard’s Church are staging the lights festival event in the church by candle-light. The theme is Christmas Toys Past and Present.

Admission is £2 on the door, children £1 (under-9s free) which includes mulled wine or juice and a programme.

CHEDDLETON: The annual auction to raise funds for Cancer Research UK will be held at The Boat Inn, Cheddleton on Sunday at 7pm.

There will be quality items available along with Christmas hampers and festive gifts going under the hammer.

There will also be a Christmas Cake competitio­n (judged on appearance only) and these will also be auctioned off during the evening.

LEEK: Local author David Cliffe will be at Leek Library next Wednesday, December 5, to sign copies of his new book entitled A Moorland Album.

The book, which will be available for purchase on the day, contains more than 200 photograph­s of Leek and the Moorlands taken between 1905 and 1908 by WH Nithsdale. The book signing will take place between 10am and 1pm.

LEEK: A free Christmas fair is to be held at St Mary’s Catholic Academy in Leek on Sunday, 11.30am2.30pm. There will be games, crafts, stalls and food and a special visitor in Santa’s story corner along with a ‘mega’ raffle.

RUDYARD: An annual Christmas tree festival will be held at Rudyard Methodist Church, Lake Road, this weekend.

The three-day event will run from Friday to Sunday, daily from 11am to 4pm (Sunday, noon–4pm).

Santa’s Grotto will be open on Friday between 3pm and 4pm and on Saturday and Sunday between 2pm and 3pm.

Light refreshmen­ts will be available including home-made cakes. There will also be bric-a-brac stalls.

WERRINGTON: Werrington Methodist Church is to stage a Fanfare to Christmas Flower Festival.

The four day festival will start on Friday and run until Monday, December 3. The church will be open on Friday and Saturday between 10am and 4pm; Sunday 2pm to 4pm and Monday 10am to 8pm.

Everyone is welcome and light refreshmen­ts are available.

IPSTONES: The annual memory tree service in Ipstones is to be held in the Red Lion car park on Thursday, December 6 at 7pm.

The service will be conducted by Rev Michael Evans. Waterproof cards are provided free of charge. Following the service everyone is invited for refreshmen­ts at the Red Lion.

BUTTERON: A Christmas fair will be held this Saturday, in Butterton village hall, noon-2pm.

There will be festive games and stalls along with mince pies, mulled wine, turkey baps, Chinese auction and Wheel of Fortune.

Admission to the fair is free and donations will go to the village hall.

WHISTON: A Christmas ‘crafter’ afternoon is to be held in Whiston Village Hall this Sunday, December 2.

You can just make a donation and craft. The event will run between noon and 4pm.

Homemade cards, tree decoration­s along with tea, coffee and cakes will be available. All ages are welcome.

All proceeds from the event will go to the mental health charity MIND.
