AN ART exhibition held in the village of Ipstones during the last weekend raised more than £1,000.

Twenty one artists took part in the exhibition which included paintings, pastels, oils and watercolours, portraits, landscapes, sculptures, ceramics, glass, jewellery, stencil work, sketchbooks and book illustrations.

A preview buffet was held on Friday evening where visitors could visit the exhibition privately and meet the artists.

On Saturday and Sunday the exhibition was open to the public in the Memorial Hall.

The community run Cafe Connect, renamed for the weekend as The Art Cafe, was also open to visitors and was kept very busy.

One of the organisers, Geraldine Shuttleworth, said: “There was a great atmosphere over the whole weekend.

“The event attracted a good turn out of visitors. It was great to see people who had left the village over the last few years return to see the exhibition.

“We hope to have raised more than £1,000 for the hall funds.”
