Silver medallist David has pupils jumping for joy
SPORTSMAN David Smith took a visit to Ilam School in his stride as part of a campaign to raise the importance of healthy living and exercise.
The high jumper who competed in the 2014 and 2018 Commonwealth games – as well as taking home silver in the 2017 British championships – helped take the children through a circuits course to promote the importance of fitness.
David also gave the pupils an insight into his daily training routine, as he looks to represent Team GB in the 2020 Olympics.
Headteacher, Rachel Linton, said: “The children loved listening to David talk about his achievements, how he got to where he is today, his day-to-day routine and the importance of following a healthy life style.
“All the pupils also enjoyed being put through their paces with a high intensity fitness circuit, which included spotty dogs, press ups, star jumps and mountain climbers all lasting one minute each.”
