CHEDDLETON WI

-

MEMBERS were meeting this evening to celebrate their 86th birthday as a WI.

They were greeted by a room and tables decked out in bunting and flags with music from WWI and WW2 to remember those who died in these wars.

President Mal Smith welcomed everyone to the meeting and a hearty rendition of Jerusalem and then God Save the Queen was sung.

Mal sent good wishes to Sheila and Joyce who are not feeling very well at this time and Happy Birthday was sung to Lyn.

Chris read out the minutes for the October meeting and dealt with the correspondence from county reminding members to book any events they were interested in as soon as possible.

Members agreed that they had enjoyed the group meeting at Wetley Rocks WI and Liz and Chris agreed to attend the meeting to discuss the group meetings for next year.

Doreen produced a beautiful birthday day cake which was dually shared and a toast made to the 86th birthday.

Due to the entertainment that was arranged not being available members waited in trepidation what was to happen next, then to everyone’s delight out came Doreen’s bingo machine.

She assured members that she had been practising on getting the balls out more efficient and had looked up the right words for the numbers.

After a few hilarious games with much laughter tea was then served.

Mal and the committee were thanked for their hard work in making the evening such a delight.

The next meeting will be the Christmas party and all members are to meet at the Cheddleton Tea Rooms at 7pm on Tuesday, December 4.
