PUTTING BEST FEET FORWARD

A CHARITY walk by members of staff and their partners at a Leek based company has raised more than £3,400.

The 20-mile walk was organised by Brian Mellor Financial Services of Stockwell Street, Leek.

The walk started at the Leek office and proceeded to Haregate, Tittesworth, then around The Roaches and Meerbrook before returning to the firm’s offices.

Twenty people took part in the walk, which was in aid of Cancer Research UK; Moorlands Dog Rescue; Wheelies – which helps people in wheelchairs – and Horton Lodge School.

Company spokesman Oliver Mellor said: “On a cold, drizzly and foggy Sunday morning an intrepid team from Brian Mellor Financial Services Limited took a break from helping people achieve their financial dreams and instead helped people in a different way by setting out on a 20-mile hike around The Roaches, The Peak District and the occasional public house.

“Despite losing our way before we had barely got out of Leek, we were happy to report that we counted them all out and we counted even more back in as some of our team joined us on the home stretch after we had stopped at The Lazy Trout for much-needed refuelling.

“What kept us all going during the trek was the generous donations made by so many of our wonderful clients, and the knowledge that they would go to our four chosen charities and how much they would appreciate them.”
