A TOWN centre coffee shop in Leek has been broken into.

A police spokesman said: “During the night of Tuesday, December 18 and Wednesday, December 19 a town centre coffee shop was broken into. If you saw or heard anything suspicious in the Derby Street area of Leek during the hours of darkness please call police on 101 and quote incident 121 of December 19.”

■ CRIMINAL damage has been caused to a shop in Cheadle.

Some time overnight between Saturday, December 15 and Sunday, December 16 a shop window on the High Street was damaged.

If you have any informatio­n regarding this incident, ring Staffordsh­ire Police on 101 and quote serial 204 of December 16.

■ DAMAGE has been caused to a vehicle on St Edward Street in Leek on Friday, December 14. Anyone with further informatio­n should contact 101, serial 793 of December 14.

■ POLICE have received reports suggesting that a person has gained access to a business off Clay Lake in Endon.

A police spokesman said: “Please ensure that you keep all doors and windows secured and locked.”

■ DAMAGE has been caused to a VW Golf that was parked on Mount Road in Blythe Bridge.

The vehicle has been keyed

down the whole length of one side.

The incident happened either on Friday, December 14 or Saturday, December 15.

If anyone has seen or heard anything they are asked to contact Staffordsh­ire Police on 101 and quote serial number 226 of December 17.

■ OVER the past week police officers have had reports of a potential postal scam. The letter is addressed ‘dear householde­r’ and claims recipients could be awarded £3,175 in PPI refunds.

Within this letter is a form for recipients to fill out for a ‘free PPI check.’ This is asking for the recipients name, address, contact informatio­n and who they bank with.

A police spokesman said: “We would like to advise all that passing on this informatio­n to unknown sources may put you at risk of financial loss or jeopardise your personal informatio­n. Passing on this informatio­n could also open you up to further scams. Our advise would be to ignore any unknown sources requesting informatio­n.”
