SEVERAL charities are set to benefit from a trust fund which is being administered by Leek-based solicitors Bowcock & Pursaill.

A client of the legal firm set up the trust several years ago and it has a total value of £225,000.

It is now being used to support several local charities including the Midlands Air Ambulance which is receiving £30,000.

Ian Naylor, a partner at Bowcock & Pursaill Solicitors, who is administering the Trust funds, went to meet the Air Ambulance team at Burton-on-trent and see firsthand how donations support their service.

He said: “We felt it was important that local charities should benefit from this Trust, as the client was Staffordshire born and bred so wanted it to support local causes.

“The Midlands Air Ambulance Charity relies on public donations and each time the helicopter takes off it costs around £2,500.

“Their staff are incredibly well qualified and can carry out numerous medical procedures, so hopefully this donation will help ensure this charity continues to operate.”

Jason Levy, fundraising and marketing director for Midlands Air Ambulance Charity, said that the money would help to provide 12 life saving missions.

He said: “No one expects to rely on an air ambulance, but unfortunately between six to eight people a day are in critical need of our advanced medical intervention.

“We can swiftly take patients to the most appropriate hospital for their injuries and bring parts of the emergency department to the incident scene, helping to improve patient recovery and survival rates.

“However, our pre-hospital emergency service is completely funded by the generosity of the public and local businesses. This generous donation through Bowcock & Pursaill Solicitors will help fund 12 of these lifesaving missions.”

Other charities set to benefit from funding from the Trust include The Donna Louise and The Douglas Macmillan Hospice.
