THE Sheep Section very busy with 2,345 on offer but Cattle dwindling as the holiday approaches.

There were 155 head of Store and Breeding Cattle with trade well up to expectatio­ns. Steers to £1,165, Heifers £1,080 and Feeding Bulls £700. In the Breeding Section Cow and Calf outfits sold to £1,040.

Highlight was a pedigree Highland Heifer sold at £880.

The 68 Finished Cattle maintained recent levels of trade with the best on offer to 226p and £1,465. The Heifers in the entry averaged 192.9p.

The OTM and Feeding Cow Section was harder work for the 77 animals forward.

Top figures 165p and £1,290 per head, the average looking a bit down in the mouth at 91.7p.

Some 75 Calves this week with Bulls to £198 and Heifers £175.

There were 1,574 Finished Lambs forward with trade good from start to finish, top figures 236p and £107.40 per head.

The SQQ average 203.2p a useful increase on the figure of 189p recorded 12 months ago.

Business was brisk in the Cull Sheep Section with Ewes peaking at £147 to average £65.49.

A few less for the last sale before Christmas and trade very much as we have come to expect. Limousin Heifers (30mnths) topped at 165p with the better Cows 70-90p.
