Parking fines go into overdrive

THE number of parking tickets issued across 10 of the UK’S biggest cities outside London has reached more than 791,000.

A study conducted by

Nationwide Cars identified which cities in the UK have issued the most fines to drivers from the beginning of April 2017 to the end of March 2018.

The city councils of 10 major centres – Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Glasgow, Leeds, Liverpool, Nottingham, Newcastle, Leicester and Bradford – were contacted under the Freedom of Information Act to ascertain which were causing the biggest headache for drivers, though three more (Manchester, Edinburgh and Brighton) did not respond.

Birmingham, Glasgow and Leeds were found to be the top three cities, outside London, to dish out parking fines, Birmingham claiming top spot with a whopping 130,225 fines issued across the year, and Glasgow close behind with 125,505.
