Craig used his loaf to set up own firm

- By Laura James Business reporter

FIFTEEN years after Craig Chapman left a ‘safe’ office job to start his own company, he is running a thriving roundthe-clock transport business which boasts a 40-strong team of staff.

Craig’s haulage company had been operating as Uksameday, based in Biddulph, offering a fast and reliable distribution service to customers across the UK.

But earlier this year, the business – which is now known as Dulogis Group – relocated to a new headquarters in Tittensor as part of its plans to expand its reach across the country with the launch of additional sites.

Today Dulogis delivers goods for major companies – including JCB, DHL and Bentley Motors.

But if running one business was not enough, last year Craig launched a recruitment company – called Duploy Recruitment – to help tackle the difficulties in recruiting good drivers.

Within just 12 months, the subsidiary business has grown to a turnover of more than £100,000 a month.

Craig said: “There’s no secret to success other than passion and a desire to find the best solutions to meet our customers needs.

“I started my business delivering bread for a bakery and then began to look at how I could provide services for other customers.

“We are adaptable and have worked with everyone from a local resident looking for furniture removal through to household names in the business world.”

In 2018, Dulogis employed a technical team to develop bespoke software and apps to allow customers to interact with the firm as easily as possible.

It also introduced a 24/7 office service to ensure a member of staff is always available.

Craig, pictured above with his fleet, added: “At all times, we look at how we can best satisfy our customers and this has led to a lot of investment in technology.

“Over the next 12 months, I want to continually improve the business to provide the best possible solutions to our customers – and retain them in the long-term.”
