Chessell aiming to get back on right track with double booking

- NEIL EVANS

EAGER to make up for lost time after two seasons on the sidelines - one of his own volition as he took time out of speedway and another through a serious leg injury - Luke Chessell will double up during the 2019 season after being offered a team place for Championship side Glasgow. Chessell, who said that turning down Berwick on the eve of the 2017 season was one of his big regrets in racing, has jumped at the chance of joining the powerhouse Scottish club alongside his duties with Stoke Potters. “I can’t deny it wasn’t a bit of a surprise to get the call, but it’s the sort of invitation that you don’t turn down,” said the Swindon-born racer whose father and uncles competed in the sport. “I always regretted that the move to Berwick didn’t happen, but I just needed to get away and take time out of the sport at that stage. I sat out that season and spent a lot of time with Adam (Extance) racing all over the place. “Then I was due to race for Stoke last season, but as you all know I had that bad injury when racing in America and it took far longer to recover than I had hoped. I had planned to be back before the season ended, but the intention was always to try to find a team place for next year. “Joining Stoke will suit me just fine. But having a doubling-up diary to look forward to can only help me get back in to shape and fitness. It’s exciting times.” Meanwhile, Stoke have confirmed that 2019 season tickets will be held at 2018 prices and that tickets are now on sale. Potters promoter Dave Tattum commented: “We have had a long chat and think about things and we as a promotion have decided to hold season tickets prices at 2018 levels and they will be available until the end of February. It is the first time in while supporters have known the whole side prior to Christmas and supporters can see who will be riding for us. We feel that season tickets are value for money and supporters will see that this is a team that will be challenging for honours and I hope supporters will back us in our quest to bring silverware back to Loomer Road in 2019.” Ticket prices: Adults: £180; Senior Citizens: £155 including programme. Season Tickets can be ordered by phone, using 07789 028003.
