School damage among spate of new year crime

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a string of crimes over the new year – including burglaries across the Staffordsh­ire Moorlands, vehicles damaged in Leek and criminal damage at a school.

A burglary was reported in Horton on Friday, January 4, where outbuildin­gs had been broken into and offenders had removed scrap batteries and other items from the building between the hours of 6.30am and 11.30am (incident 360 of January 4).

■ A BURGLARY has taken place at a property in Park Avenue, Cheadle (incident 675 of December 31).

Between 7pm and 9pm on Monday, December 31, 2018 unknown offenders gained entry to an address in Park Avenue, and items were taken from the property.

■ ON THE same day – New Year’s Eve – a burglary also took place in Friars Close, Cheadle (incident 716 of December 31).

Between 3.30pm and 4.30pm on Monday, December 31, 2018 unknown offenders gained entry to an address in Friars Close and items were taken from the property.

■ CRIMINAL damage has taken place at a primary school in Royal Walk, Cheadle (incident 97 of January 6).

At Bishop Rawle Cofe, someone got into a shed which was unsecured at the side of the school, forced the door off and then threw two cans of paint onto the floor.

The incident occurred sometime in or around Sunday, January 6.

■ CRIMINAL damage has taken place on a property at Uplands Croft, Werrington.

At approximat­ely 7pm on Saturday, January 5 an unknown offender smashed a window at an address and damaged a window pane on Uplands Croft in Werrington.

If anyone has any informatio­n or captured any offenders on CCTV, they should contact Staffordsh­ire Police on 101 and quote either 613 of January 5 or 183 of January 6.

■ DAMAGE has been caused to a property Dimble Lane, Alton (incident 435 of December 28).

Between Wednesday, December 26 and Thursday, December 27 unknown offenders caused damage to a rear patio window at a property on Dimble Lane in Alton.

A police spokesman said: “Please remain vigilant and ensure properties are kept secure.”

■ CRIMINAL damage has been caused to a property on Sneyd Street in Leek (incident 442 of January 5).

■ A BICYCLE has been stolen in Leek. The theft took place in Mount Road at around midday on Friday, December 28, 2018. The bike is a orange Carrera Vengeance (incident 371 of December 28).

■ OVERNIGHT between Sunday, December 30 and Monday, December 31, 2018 a wrought iron two seater bench was stolen from outside Damask House on Zurich Avenue in Biddulph (incident 201 of December 31).

■ SEVERAL incidents regarding criminal damage to cars have taken place in Leek.

During the night of Thursday, December, 27, 2018 two vehicles parked on North Street, Leek were damaged incident 390 of December 28).

▶ Criminal damage has been caused to a vehicle on Haregate Road in Leek (incident 828 of December 28).

▶ A car damaged on Church Lane in Leek (incident 261 of December 29).

▶ There has been damage caused to a vehicle on Langford Street in Leek.

■ AN UNKNOWN offender has slashed the front tyres on a vehicle parked on the driveway on Washerwall Lane in Werrington. The incident happened between 9pm on Friday, December 28 and 11.35am on Saturday, December 29 (incident 287 of December 29).
