Charity night hits all the right notes

-

MORE than £400 has been raised to help resurface a village car park.

The Mel Baines Trio were the star attraction at a special Christmas musical evening in Werrington Village Hall.

The show was put on to raise money for the car park which will soon be in urgent need of re-surfacing.

A spokesman for the event said: “The evening was a great success, so much so that the trio have said they will do it again for such a worthwhile cause.”

The trio – which consists of vocalist Mel, John Woodward on piano and John Dougherty on saxophone and banjo – played a full selection of well-known favourites which had the audience joining in.

During the interval mince pies were served, kindly donated by the Washerwall Lane Co-op.
