Meeting on hospital plan

-

THE future of Leek Moorlands Hospital is to be discussed at a public meeting next week.

The Health Working Group set up by Leek Town Council will hold a second public meeting on Wednesday, January 16 at 7.15pm in the council chamber at Moorlands House to discuss the CCG’S preferred options.

The proposals would include the permanent closure of the 37 community beds and either rebuilding or refurbishing the hospital.

Parish councils in the Staffordshire Moorlands and members of the public are invited to have their say on the future of the hospital.

Save Leek Hospital Action Group chairman Pam Wood, said: “The consultation into the future of Leek Hospital is now ongoing and I urge people to attend meetings.

“The plans by the CCG are still not clear. If there was to be a hub in Leek what would be in the new build? If the CCG are proposing a hub they must know what would go in it.”

“I would urge people to attend the meeting to hear what the council has done on their behalf.”
