Khan signs up for Blythe ahead of new season

-

BLYTHE have secured an eye-catching signing for the new season with the capture of leg-spinner Babar Khan.

The 39-year-old has previous experience of playing in the North Staffs and South Cheshire League after a two-year stint with Newcastle & Hartshill in

2014 and 2015.

He took 64 wickets in his first season to help them to win promotion to the top flight and followed that up with 66 wickets the following year - although it wasn’t enough to prevent Castle from being relegated.

Khan, claimed nine five-wicket hauls in his spell with Newcastle & Hartshill, including best figures of 6-23 against Barlaston in June 2014.

Khan has since had spells in the Greater Manchester League with Bamford Fieldhouse and Wolverhampton in the Birmingham and District League.

But he’s now heading back to the NSSCL for this summer after agreeing a deal with Blythe.

Blythe secured a highlyrespectable third-place finish on their Premier Division bow last summer and the arrival of Khan strengthens their spin options.

The Cresswell Lane club have already re-signed overseas all-rounder Jalat Khan for their second campaign in the top division.
