Motorcycli­st, 50, dies in collision with car on A521

A MAN has died following a road traffic accident in the Staffordsh­ire Moorlands.

Motorcycli­st Martin Barker was left critically injured following a collision with a car on the A521 Uttoxter Road in Draycott-in-the-moors, at around 5.15pm on Friday.

Mr Barker, aged 50, from Stoke-on-trent, died at the Royal Stoke University Hospital on Saturday morning.

Staffordsh­ire Police are appealing for informatio­n about the incident.

Mr Barker was riding a red Kawasaki motorbike in the direction of Blythe Bridge, when he came into collision with a grey Audi A5.

A police spokesman said: “We were called to reports of a road traffic collision between a red Kawasaki motorcycle and a grey Audi A5 on the A521 near Chandni Cottage at around 5.15pm on Friday.

“Sadly the motorcycli­st, Martin Barker, aged 50, from Stoke-on-trent, died at the Royal Stoke University Hospital on Saturday morning.

“Paramedics had carried out emergency treatment at the scene before he was taken to hospital, where despite the efforts of medical staff, he sadly died.

“Specialist officers are supporting the family.”

PC Matt Lovatt added:

“This is a well-used road and anyone who may have dashcam footage around when the collision occurred is asked to contact us.”

Mr Barker’s friends have left tributes to him on Facebook.

Laura Lowe wrote: “Martin will be sadly missed by us, his colleagues and his friends and family. RIP Martin.”

Marissa Henderson said: “RIP Map, your generosity, love and support will never be forgotten.”
