‘No-one wants jobs’ – PR firm struggles to fill roles
A LEEK firm which has immediate vacancies has been left amazed that despite advertising for staff not one person has come forward to fill them.
SO Marketing in Broad Street urgently require experienced graphic designers. They also want web developers with some experience but are willing to train suitable applicants.
The company state that they have plenty of work and want to expand further, but cannot because of staff shortage.
The business is jointly owned by directors James Aberley of Kingsley and Richard Latham of Leek. The company have just invested £500,000 by purchasing the premises and is now ready for its next stage of its expansion plans.
The company has been in the town three and a half years. Previously the business was located in Chapel Street, Cheadle where it outgrew the premises.
James said: “We are struggling to get staff. We would love local people to come and join us. We have advertised but no one has applied. We do not know what is going on. These are good jobs.
“We need experienced graphic designers, but we are willing to train web developers.
“We just want people to get in touch and come and meet us. We are looking at seven jobs to add to our present workforce of 10 people.
“It is an odd situation. We have plenty of work and need to expand further but the lack of staff is presently stopping us.
“The move from our smaller offices in Cheadle, where we were based for eight and a half years, to the large building in Leek has been successful.
“We are a creative business and work together as family. The job opportunities give a chance for people who live in the Staffordshire Moorlands to work in the Staffordshire Moorlands which could mean a lot less travelling for them.
“We have got support from Grants for Growth to help with the purchase of the building and we want to make sure that we are in Leek for 25 years.”
