‘A split down the middle’
WHAT’S creating the division in our country? Well for a start one Christmas speech from the overseer of our Parliament, one lecture from the head of our church, not forgetting the new police commissioners that are spending money like there’s know tomorrow.
It’s beginning to sound like little England’s becoming a police state, overseeing a “Poultry Shed” that’s just had a visit from a hungry fox and a dog-eat-dog mentality from our council leaders – not just in Staffordshire.
Derbyshire was rated one of the worst performing councils in the country a few years ago and headed the news on the TV regarding the thousands of trees that Derbyshire CC were about to butcher.
Regardless of the strong feelings from residents it sounds like the Staffordshire Moorlands is a close second when considering their present ratings, it seems that both local communities are being walked over roughshod.
I blame our voting system, which I think needs dissolving and replaced by proportional representation that is more accountable and cannot be watered down by a mass number of ignorant voters, very much like the misguided voters presently that want the German and French governments to run our country.
I think we should open up all those closed village schools.
We could kick start the Socialism Act, in turn this would remove the stuffed shirt system that presently reigns, on both sides of the border.
I see that a planning application is being whisked through at a tourist spot at the end of the Manifold Valley, Waterhouses.
I can only wish these people well with their venture but also sound a warning to those thousands of tourists that use this popular track – be aware of falling rocks – boulders the size of a small car that are currently crashing down onto the Manifold track just past the sewage works with the powers that be turning a blind eye.
There is also the long-running saga of the 50mph speed limit that has not been solved.
Not to mention the bridge that’s in need or urgent attention to this application site – I think I have made a valued point. Frank Bradbury Calton and Leek
