‘Try before you apply’ with taster sessions for new college students

-

PROSPECTIVE students are being offered free tasters and ‘subject area sessions’ at Buxton & Leek College for current year 10 and 11 pupils.

Are you nearing the end of school but can’t make up your mind which course to study at college? Then Buxton & Leek College is offering a range of morning and afternoon taster sessions available for students to try before they apply.

Campuses based at both Buxton and Leek are offering the free taster sessions during half term week on Wednesday, February

20. Whether you want to do performing arts or are considering a career in catering, there’s a chance to spend a morning or afternoon in college and experience learning.

Lucy Thorpe, a student recruitment consultant at the college said: “Our taster days are a great opportunity for school leavers to ‘try before they apply.’ They can find out more about life at college, meet tutors and other students, check out our facilities and get handson with the subjects they’re interested in. We want to ensure that students make the right choices for their future, and our taster days are a really good way of exploring different career options.”

The tasters day on Wednesday, February 20 include sessions on motor vehicle and motor sport, media and computing, outdoor sport and public services, performing and visual arts, business, engineering, carpentry and joinery, health and social care, hair and beauty along with hospitality and catering.
