Traditional layout proposed for housing development
PLANS have been put forward to build eight houses on a site off a busy main road into Leek.
An outline planning application for the erection of the dwellings and construction of access road with details of access and layout has been submitted on land to the rear of, 90 Ashbourne Road.
A design and access statement, said: “The layout reflects the pattern of development in the area with the front of the dwellings facing the road and allows parking for three cars including the garage. The size of the dwellings delivers family-sized rear and side gardens that exceed the recommended areas. The application site is located within reasonable walking distance of Leek town centre where a range of public transport routes are available. Leek bus station is within easy reach by foot, bike or bus providing access to other Moorland towns and villages and the Potteries.
“The application drawings illustrate the layout of eight dwellings on the application site. Land to the rear of Ashbourne Road falls towards the Pickwood Valley.
“The proposed road enters the site across the contours and then leans to the west to contain a relatively level area of land upon which three houses are proposed to be sited.
“The remaining five houses are proposed to be sited to the east and south-east of the proposed road. These will front the road, from which they will get access, and will follow the slope so that each house will be at a lower level as it goes south.
“The layout is a traditional layout with access off the proposed road, and with family-sized front and rear gardens. The council’s planning policies clearly support the principle of residential development on the site. The site is in the town settlement boundary and can be adequately serviced.”
A decision is expected by planners within the next eight weeks.
