The 52-seater restaurant has been owned for the last 21 years by Sami Miah.

He said: “I am very proud. I could not believe it when they announced our name as the West Midlands Restaurant of the Year. A big thank you goes to all our customers who have supported us over the last 21 years.

“We are now inviting people to join us for a celebration night on Sunday, October 27. We want people to help us celebrate this achievement.

“People gave me a warm welcome when I first moved into the restaurant. We now employ seven people and two part time personnel.

“The award proves that if you work hard and get it right you can be successful.

“We give people the opportunity to bring in their own alcohol for their meal, which is welcomed. We also invite people to come and try or new dishes and also our banqueting nights on Wednesdays and Sundays each week.

Mr Miah’s chef for the last 12 years is Aaban Aamir Ali.

Mr Ali said: “It is great to be awarded two certificates. I am very pleased to receive the awards for my work. I attended the cooking festival in India which was for British chefs. I was so pleased to gain an outstanding achievement. To win the West Midlands Restaurant of the Year was fantastic.

“It is the first time I have won two major certificates. However, a few years ago I was the Moorlands chef of the year.”
