Daredevil Stu set to take on Wall of Death record

WORLD record attempts are to take place at a festival to be held in Blackshaw Moor this Saturday, September 14.

The festival, entitled ‘Who Dares Fest,’ is being held at Blackshaw Farm, Blackshaw Moor, and will get underway at 2pm.

During the event the world records will be performed on the Wall of Death.

Stu Day (46) is looking to set a new world record by attempting to be the first person to take a modern trials bike (with no seat) around Ken Fox’s Wall of Death which has never been attempted before.

Then Stu is aiming to set an ‘unofficial’ world record for the highest speed for a trials bike around the Wall of Death.

Unfortunately, Guinness has been unable to accept Stu’s challenge as they say they cannot differentiate between motorbikes.

However, his friend Alex Fox from Cambridgeshire is attempting to break the Guinness world record for the fastest push bike around the Wall of Death. The current record stands at 27mph.

A range of entertainment has been arranged by the organisers throughout the festival.

One of the organisers Jo Lowe said: “As well as these world record attempts, we have secured additional entertainment for visitors including Tim Burgess who will be carving the Gruffalo with his chainsaw throughout the day; Danny Butler who will be displaying his Extreme Bike Show.

“Singers include Leek’s very own Fielding Talks and Meg Barnes; Andy our incredible busker and The Sound Party Band; DJ Shaun Beetham and Leek Hockey Club are supplying a well stocked bar. “Trialsday, Stu’s business, will be doing a ‘Kickstart’ style time trial, and there will be lots more to see or do throughout the day. We are offering camping on the Friday where the duo Akoustic will be entertaining our campers.”

Tickets, priced at adults £15, children £7.50 with under fives free, are available from www.trialsday.com or from Jo Lowe on 07969 393858.
