Mountford nets a double as Roaring Meg lead the way

ROARING Meg and Bignall End are the early pacesetter­s at the top of the POTTERIES LEAGUE Premier Division with two wins from two.

Biddulph-based Roaring Meg are top on goal difference and had Sean Mountford (2), Tom Madden and Tom Roper to thank for their 4-3 win at Adderley Green who replied through Sol Soumare, Asa Tomlinson and Ash Moore.

Bignall End were 3-1 winners at home to Greenhoff’s, thanks to goals from Matt Rogalski, Liam Kelter and Jon Hughes, while Callum Ward netted Greenhoff’s consolatio­n.

Silverdale Athletic were 3-1 winners at Wood Park.

Into Division One where Blythe Bridge-based Black Cock came out on top of a seven-goal thriller at home to Knave FC.

Goals from Shaun Searle, Will Huson, Jamie Chapman and Ryan Holmes earned Black Cock a 4-3 victory. Daniel Sheldon, Ashley Thompson and Harry Clarke scored for Knave.

Three games went ahead in Division Two and Newcastle Athletic Reserves improved their goal difference with an 11-2 home win over Windmill Werrington Reserves.

Yiannis Loannou and Kieran Lazenby scored hattricks, with the other goals coming from Marlon Dickes (2), Corey Williams, Stefan Fantauzzo and Ash Lockett, with Kane Barlow and Simon Minshall on target for Windmill.

Meir KA in their 5-1 win at Hamptons Metals. James Foy and Dean Jackson were Meir’s other scorers.

FC Clayton cruised into the second round of the League Cup with an 8-2 victory at Moorcroft Community Click.

Joe Wilson (3), George Shaw (2), Ryan Hall, Philip Mason and Matt Ball scored for Clayton, with Aaron Lindop and Petrut Socaciu replying for Moorcroft.

Cheadle United were

2-0 winners at Red Lion Hartshill, with goals from Jake Alcock and Jamie Tee, while Musician United were 3-2 winners at home to Ash Bank after extra-time.

Ryan Lewis, Lewis Mcmurdo and Joshua Johnson scored for United.

Butchers Arms continued their flying start to the COORS LEAGUE SEASON when they made it three out of three in Division One with a 4-3 win at AFC Black Lion.

Nathan Calvert, Greg Leese, Danny Glover and Matt Talbot scored for the Forsbrook outfit to keep them top of the table.

Neighbours Roebuck Inn drew 1-1 with Cheshire Cheese to sit eighth.

Courtney Franklin gave Roebuck the lead, only for Nick Lloyd to equalise.

Former Leek League outfit Vale Hoppers lost 7-2 to FC Gardeners in Division Three, but Breaks Athletic are enjoing a good start to their Division Four season since joining the Coors League after the Leek League folded.

Breaks are second in the table following three wins, the latest a 1-0 home win over Wolstanton High thanks to the only goal from Adrian Findlow.
