Karen Bradley

- Staffordshire Moorlands MP

LAST Friday was the 75th anniversary of VE Day. We had all hoped to be able to use the anniversary as an opportunity to get together with family, friends and neighbours to remember together. But like so much of life, the commemorations had to be held virtually.

So many things have changed over the last couple of months and as well as a hybrid Parliament and testing virtual voting, I have taken part in many virtual meetings with councils, other MPS and local businesses amongst others.

But not everything has moved online and I have really enjoyed seeing the bright colourful posters that are being displayed in windows across the Moorlands. There is still time to enter your poster in my Nhs/carers/key Workers Poster Competition.

Entries should be emailed as a photo to karen.bradley.mp@ parliament.uk, together with the artist’s full name and age.

Entries will be judged by the Leader of the District Council, Sybil Ralphs MBE and the winning poster will be printed in the local press for residents to cut out and put in their windows.

The closing date for entries is Friday, May 15.

I also hope that many of you will join me in my second virtual social distancing coffee morning on Friday at 11am.

The first one last month was really popular and I have had so many lovely photos showing me that even though we cannot meet in person, we can enjoy the same things at the same time. I will host the event live on Moorlands Radio again so please do tune in. All you need to do is make a cup of tea or coffee, stand at your door, look out of your window or even stand at your window and wave.
