Man treated for serious injuries
A MAN was treated for serious injuries and taken to hospital after a house fire in the Staffordshire Moorlands.
West Midlands Ambulance Service was called at 11.14am last Wednesday to a house fire in Highfield Place, Biddulph.
A spokeswoman said: “On arrival we discovered a man, in a serious condition.
“He was treated for multiple serious injuries before being taken on blue lights and sirens to Royal Stoke Hospital for further treatment.
“The air crew travelled with colleagues on the land ambulance to continue treatment en route.”
A spokesman for Staffordshire Fire and Rescue said: “Crews from Biddulph, Sandyford and Kidsgrove attended and used one hose reel jet and two breathing apparatus to put out the blaze.
“A man in his 70s was taken to the QE in Birmingham by colleagues from West Midlands Ambulance Service where he remains in critical but stable condition.
“The fire was put out by firefighters and an investigation has found that the fire was accidental and caused by handling of smoking materials.”
