It’s 10 in a row for champions as they see off Modd men

CHAMPIONS Church Eaton made it 10 successive NSSCL Division Six victories after seeing off the challenge of Moddershal­l & Oulton fourths.

Their perfect run continued after they had posted 177-9 on the back of Adrian Melbourn’s 50, Matt White’s 33 and 32 from Andrew Greaves.

Don Halahakone claimed 4-23 for the Modd men, who then saw James Mason make 45 in reply.

However, Jonathan Arnold (3-24) produced a fine spell to dismiss Moddershal­l & Oulton for 131.

Burslem held their nerve to secure an eight-run win at Leycett.

Kevin Beattie’s 47 was backed up by Kyle Brassingto­n (41) and Chris Lowndes (39) to guide Burslem to 212-8.

Oliver Shirley took 3-36 for Leycett before making 39 in their response.

Nathan Porter top-scored with 44, but Michael Rowley’s key spell of 4-52 left Leycett just short on 204-7 at the close.

Oakamoor powered past Moddershal­l & Oulton sixths on their road trip. Alfie Walford compiled 116 in Oakamoor’s 236-7, helped along the way by Andrew Booth’s 48. Stephen Powell took 5-21.

But the star bowling display of the day came from Mike

Worthingto­n. He claimed 7-19 to rout Moddershal­l & Oulton for 64 after the interval.

Newcastle & Hartshill thirds were seven-wicket home winners against Endon.

Three wickets apiece from Trent Stirk (3-9) and Joe Thorne (3-16) left Endon all out for 119. Peter Slinn made 30.

Roger Howe and James Bogges then constructe­d unbeaten knocks of 45 and 35 respective­ly to steer Castle to the points.

Norton in Hales are 15 points better off thanks to their home win against Stafford thirds. Rob Warrington (38), Scott Lawrenson (35) and Simon Line (32) were in good nick as Norton in Hales reached 183-6, despite James Faulconbri­dge taking 4-29.

Faulconbri­dge and Anthony Prinold made 25 apiece in reply, but Line (3-33) and Charlie Belfield (334) dismissed the visitors for 109.

Hanford thoroughly enjoyed their visit to Sandyford.

Usman Yaqub (78), Annamalai Veerappan (72) and Shahid Mahmood (32) propelled Hanford to an imposing 274-7. George Allen took 4-30.

Mohammed Saghir helped himself to 4-33 in the home side’s response to dismiss them for 157.
