SEVERAL power tools have been stolen from a rural village.

Between 3pm and 4pm on September 5, a number of power tools were taken from Furlong Lane, Alstonefie­ld.

Three chainsaws and a 13feet pole saw were taken while left unattended for a short time.

If anyone has any informatio­n in relation to the theft or the whereabout­s of the chainsaws they should contact Police on 101, by Facebook or on Twitter.

▶ Two signs have been stolen from a location on Tenford Lane in Tean. This occurred between 11.30am and 12.15pm on September 26.

▶ Police are appealing for informatio­n after it appears someone was disturbed while attempting to take a cement mixer from Greenfield, Biddulph. This took place on the evening of September 23.

A strap holding was cut and police are aware of previous attempts in the area.

If anyone has informatio­n they are asked to call police on 101 and quote incident number 840 of September 23.

▶ Residents have been warned to be aware of a scam e-mail from people calling themselves ‘The TV Licensing Authority’ saying that they cannot continue to issue a TV licence to them as the residents had made a mistake.

“A reminder that if you wish to apply for a TV Licence or have a query regarding your existing TV Licence, only visit www.tvlicensin­g.co.uk or call them on 0300 790

6130 and do not under any circumstan­ces provide your bank details over links within these e-mails as it is more than likely to be a scam,” said a police statement.

Residents have been urged to pass this informatio­n on to vulnerable friends and relatives.
