The Gathering, ‘a new kind of church’, takes it services online
PLANS are in motion to start a new online church service in the Staffordshire Moorlands, writes LES JACKSON.
Entitled The Gathering church in Leek, people can join on Facebook every Sunday at 11.15am for worship and at 12pm for after church hangouts.
The church website said: “We are so looking forward to being together online and one day in person too!
“Get connected by following us on social media and tuning into one of our online gatherings every Sunday at 11.15am.
“We aim to be a new kind of church community, where you’ll experience honest worship, real connection, relevant teaching and meaningful action.
“At The Gathering, our invitational spirit is behind everything we do.
“You’ll be welcomed just as you are, but we will challenge you to grow.
A place where you’ll meet friends, strengthen your faith, and find purpose and meaning.
“You will be part of something bigger than yourself as we work together to impact our locality and our world.
“With the global coronavirus pandemic changing the way we do church, we’re looking to the future with fresh eyes to uncover a new kind of normal.
“We’ll be sharing content online so that you can remain centred and grounded in community during this turbulent time.
“Alongside meeting together as a group starting in September, we are keen to establish a strong online presence.
“Our virtual congregation will be as valued as our physical one, with online worship sessions, hangouts and lots more.
“Many of us have had to develop our digital skills since the beginning of lockdown, and it’s our wish to continue growing in this area in order to reach the wider community and be accessible to all.
“We are committed to welcome you just as you are and celebrate diversity in the life of the church. The Gathering embraces honesty, openness and transparency in every area to ensure church is a safe place for all.”
