‘Eradicating virus will take some time’

-

MR Hall, in response too your letter in the Post & Times dated September 16, at least Boris will listen to advice and respond accordingly even if it means changing the advice given to the population from week to week.

Unlike other leaders around the world who totally deny the problem, such as Trump and the president of Brazil or indeed in the past Margaret Thatcher, who was as you know ‘not for turning’.

You display an irresponsible attitude: well ask the bereaved of the 40,000 plus if covid is real or not and that precautions such as social distancing and lockdowns are unnecessary.

The UK is not the worst country in the world for the Government being dictatorial, Australia has been issuing $10,000 fines along with six

months in prison if you don’t do as you are told.

France, along with Italy and Spain have much stronger measures in place than the UK.

Even here in Leek, there are still people who refuse to wear a mask when entering a shop, these people are selfish, arrogant and stupid.

Are you one of these Mr Hall? Yes, businesses are suffering badly and people unfortunately will lose their jobs but unless we get on top of this awful virus it will go on for years.

As for your comment on a vaccine, viruses are extremely difficult to control due to the fact they mutate constantly.

It has already been said that it could take possibly up to three different drugs to eradicate the covid virus and that, I’m afraid Mr Hall, takes time, something which you seem to have no understanding of. John Emery Leek
