Single goal is enough to secure spoils

WARRINGTON Town continued their unbeaten start to the Pitchingin Northern Premier League Premier Division following a 1-0 victory over Whitby Town at Cantilever Park.

A goal from Matthew Regan just before half-time was enough to separate the two sides on a wet Saturday afternoon, and with most of the league in FA Cup action, Paul Carden’s side sit five points clear at the top and are unbeaten in their opening four games.

The only other game in the Premier Division came at Wincham Park, as Witton Albion claimed a 2-0 victory over Basford United, with an own goal from Lewis Carr on the third minute and a goal from Stephen Mcnulty just four minutes later enough on the day.

Witton now sit fifth in the table, while Basford sit 12th.

In the North West Division, two goals from Daniel O’brien and a third from Sefton Gonzales helped Ramsbottom United to a

3-0 victory over Pontefract Collieries.

The Rams sit top of the table with nine points, while Dunston sit just below due to goal difference following their 1-0 victory over Pickering Town.

Elsewhere in the league, Workington claimed their first league win of the season with a 5-2 victory over City of Liverpool, with goals from Reuben Jerome (2), Liam Brockbank, Carl Lightfoot and Louis Potts.

Jamie Cooke’s goal on the 70th minute was enough for Colne against Ossett United, while Clitheroe and Trafford shared the points with a

2-2- draw.

In the South East Division, Belper Town claimed a 2-1 win over Glossop North

End, with goals from Samuel Wright and Piteu Crouz, who recently returned to the club.

Newcastle Town now sit in second place following a 3-2 success over Wisbech Town, with goals from Jack Van Der Laan and Ryan Mclean scoring a brace.

Carlton Town claimed the three points way to Frickley Athletic following their 3-0 victory, while Stockbridg­e Park Steels were on the right side of a seven-goal thriller against Lincoln United, with a 4-3 scoreline for the visitors.

Loughborou­gh Dynamo and Cleethorpe­s Town drew 1-1.
