‘We cannot wait to show people how vibrant the art community is here’

-

A GROUP of artists from Leek have come up with something different to help brighten up those long dull evenings.

Leek Open Studios are to stage a virtual event. Originally planned to take part in May as a part of the Leek Arts Festival and cancelled because of Covid-19, the planning committee, led by Judith Brown, decided to postpone the event rather than cancel it.

It will now take place on Saturday and Sunday, October 17 and 18.

Not only can you look at the work of more than 30 local artists, you can listen to them in conversation, visit them online in their studios, watch demonstrations and make those virtual purchases for Christmas presents.

The diverse range of work is available for purchase and includes;

watercolour and oil paintings, collage, photography, drawing, contemporary textiles, print making, ceramics and glasswork. All work demonstrates the high level of professionalism, originality and imagination produced by local artists.

Judith said: “We are all so excited. We’ve tried to be as creative as possible. It’s taken a lot to plan and produce but we can’t wait to show everyone just how vibrant the art community is here in Leek. It’s becoming an established artisan destination and in these troubled times we all need to support each other. We are also including a competition, the details of which are available on our website.”
