Six of the best for Alton as they ease to victory

ALTON FC had their shooting boots on as they romped to an emphatic victory at Tuns FC 2014 in their Uttoxeter and District League clash.

The Division Two encounter saw Alton FC run out 6-1 winners after a clinical display of finishing proved to be too much for their rivals to handle.

Lewis Dawson and Nahdi Hassan both scored twice, while Dan Rooksby and Archie Whitehead ensured there was no let-up for the hosts on a testing morning.

Tuns FC 2014 did manage to grab a consolatio­n, though, with Macaulay Greensmith on the scoresheet to earn some reward for their battling efforts.

Stone Town were also away winners as they returned from Hixon with a 2-1 triumph.

Ben Streete netted for Hixon, but goals from Jake Regan and Nathan Mills left Stone Town celebratin­g a three-point haul.

Bird in Hand also had a productive away trip on Sunday morning.

Strikes from Steve Keeling and Gab Sumnall proved to be the difference as they won 2-0 at Stone Outlanes.

There was a home win in the division, however, as Tean Rangers managed to buck the day’s trend to beat AFC Ipstones 2-0.

In Division One, Churnet Valley eased to a 3-0 victory at Uttoxeter Dominoes.

Jack Hassall led the way with a double, which was added to by Andrew Coxon to easily settle the destinatio­n of the points.

Bulls Head made home advantage count to beat Tean Albion 3-0.

Sam Birks, Chris Doig and James Ingram were the marksmen for Bulls Head.

It was honours even in the meeting between Bramshall and Uttoxeter Town.

John Thacker and Kieran Richardson struck for Bramshall, but efforts from Harry Johnson and Lee Bagley meant a point apiece at the final whistle.

Waterhouse­s made serene progress from the first round of the Sentinel Sunday Cup at the weekend.

They headed to Sudbury and pocketed an impressive 7-1 success.

Dec Heath and Martin Hudson both scored twice, while Kieran Carr, Harry Flower and Jamie Pope also joined in the scoring fun to lay down an early marker in the competitio­n.
