NEW DELI OPENS UP IN TOWN
Chris and Jessica’s new deli is opened by niece and nephew!
A NEW deli has been launched in Leek.
Gallagher’s Deli & Kitchen, which opened its door to the public last week, is located at 58 St Edward Street.
The business is to be run by Chris Gallagher and his wife Jessica Bond-Gallagher.
Chris was due to take up a new position as head chef when the country went into lockdown in March.
But rather then dwell on his misfortune, he decided to set up his own business with his wife Jessica who had also been eagerly looking forward to starting a new job in the hospitality industry.
The couple from Cheddleton started Gallagher’s Home Kitchen delivering restaurant-quality home-cooked meals to the door.
Now following the success of the venture, the couple have opened their own shop. The premises were officially opened last week by the couple’s nephews, Dylan aged four and Cohen aged one.
Jessica, aged 28, said: “The aim is to create a modern British ‘grab & go’ deli, with a breakfast and lunch offering that is fresh, wholesome, and delicious.
“Everything will be prepared in house daily, ready for you to pickup and enjoy in the office, at home, on site, on the school run, or even strolling about town. We are using great-quality, fresh ingredients from expert local suppliers, all coupled with sustainable plant-based packaging to create all our goods.
“Running alongside, we will also be providing great coffee and stocking a wide range of fantastic deli-style items from some incredible artisan producers who are predominantly based in our very own Staffordshire; something we’re super passionate and excited about.
“We believe in contributing to a sense of community, while encouraging local independent shopping within our stunning market town, especially in these strange times.
“It’s huge thanks to our faithful Gallagher’s Home Kitchen supporters over the past six months, that we are lucky enough to be in this position, and so we are thrilled to also be continuing with a monthly supper club starting early November.”
Chris, aged 30, said they were now looking forward to welcoming people to their new shop.
He said: “I have worked in the industry for 14 years. We were about to start new jobs then we were hit by lockdown, so we started doing quality food in our kitchen. Opening the shop is a natural follow on.
“We have had tremendous support in these difficult times. People have been so encouraging towards us. We source our ingredients from local suppliers and within the county. There are a lot of great shops in St Edward Street.”
The new deli and kitchen is open Thursday to Monday between 8am and 4pm.
