A fight outside town’s top pizza place sees man taken to hospital

A MAN was taken to hospital after a fight that left blood ‘everywhere’ outside Domino’s Pizza in Leek.

Emergency services were called to reports of a fight near Domino’s shortly before 7pm last Tuesday, March 9.

A 28-year-old man, from Leek, was taken to the hospital for treatment to his injuries after the incident.

A 31-year-old man, also from Leek, was arrested on suspicion of violence against the person but was released as inquiries continue.

An eye-witness told the Post & Times how a man could be seen hurling a bottle at another man outside the St Edward Street branch.

He said: “Two men started fighting in the road outside Domino’s entrance.

“Blood sprayed everywhere. “It took the police 20 minutes to turn up from when the fight started and another 15 for the ambulance.”

West Midlands Ambulance Service later confirmed a man was taken to hospital.

A Staffordsh­ire Police spokesman said: “Police were called at 7pm to a fast-food restaurant on St Edward Street in Leek on Tuesday following reports of an altercatio­n.

“Officers attended and a 28-year-old man from Leek was conveyed to hospital with wrist injuries which he stated were sustained accidental­ly.

“A 31-year-old man from the Leek area was initially detained on suspicion of violence against the person and later de-arrested.”

Ambulance Service spokesman said: “We were called at 6.56pm to reports of an assault in St Edward Street, Leek.

“We sent one ambulance to the scene. We treated one patient, a man, for injuries not believed to be serious and he was conveyed to hospital for further treatment.”
