Police name man due in court after teen needed ‘face surgery’

Craig Plant, 35, charged with GBH after incident at beauty spot

A LEEK man has been charged in connection with an incident at a Moorlands beauty spot last summer.

Faith Tatton required surgery to her cheek after a .22 pellet lodged in her face – just missing her eye – at Titteswort­h Reservior, near Leek on June 25.

Following the incident police officers launched an appeal for informatio­n.

In a letter to the chief constable Faith’s family lodged two complaints on how police dealt with the incident at the time.

Now officers have named a man due in court next month after the teenager was allegedly struck in the face by a BB pellet.

A Staffordsh­ire Police spokesman said: “A man from Leek has been charged in connection with an incident at Titteswort­h Reservoir in

June 2020, which left a 14-year-old girl requiring surgery to her face.

“Craig Plant, aged 36, of Salisbury Street, in Leek has been charged with Section 20 grievous bodily harm and with perverting the course of justice. He’s due to appear in court next month.”

▶ Meanwhile, motorists have called for action to find a mystery person who leaves nails in the residentia­l street – causing repeated punctures for motorists.

A spokesman for Staffordsh­ire Police said: “Officers have been paying attention to the area with increased patrols over the past few weeks, and since that time we have not received any further reports of damage being caused.

“Your local officers are well aware of the issue and will continue to patrol this area to reassure our community and address any issues.”

▶ Local officers are appealing for any witnesses to come forward in relation to minor fire damage to a doorway at Biddulph Methodist Chapel at Station Road, Biddulph .

The incident took place between Saturday, April 10 and Sunday, April 11 .

Anyone with informatio­n is asked to ring 101 quoting incident number 202 of April 12.

▶ Officers say that they are aware of issues at Brough Park in Leek last week.

A police spokesman said: “We have attended and dealt with a group of juveniles. Officers are liaising with parents and will continue to monitor the park. Please call us on 101 with any further incidents.”
