‘We want to help as many people as we can claim back mental health’

-

AN EIGHT-WEEK boot camp aimed at helping people with their mental health and fitness is to take place in Leek from next month.

Three sessions of one-and-a-half hours a week will be available for people from the age of 16, and for all levels of fitness.

The sessions will take place at Birchall Playing Fields on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6pm, and Saturdays at 9am, starting on May 11.

The personal training boot camp is focused on gaining sustainable nutritional knowledge and fun group exercising in a safe, fun and friendly environment.

It will be run by Adam Rider and Ash Holland.

Adam said: “Science proves that working out increases’ endorphins – the feel-good hormone – and after the past year of lockdowns and social restrictions, everyone deserves to feel good right now.

“On top of this people’s nutrition has been put to the back of the mind with people being at home more often than normal and boredom playing a big part in people’s dietary choices.

“We want to help as many people as we can to claim back their mental health and some social interaction, especially for those who have felt lonely during a tough time, while educating people on the do’s and don’ts of nutrition.

“We will also be giving people access to our Whatsapp and facebook group which we will be putting any information into and encouraging conversations.

“To encourage fun and effort throughout the boot camp we will be running a weekly competition with prizes for the winners.

“We are both fully qualified personal trainers with eight years’ worth of experience between us within the fitness industry, working with clients of all kinds of backgrounds ranging from drug and alcohol abuse to GP referrals to straight up fat loss and muscle gain.

“We just want to be able to help as many people as we can and we feel this is the best way to do it, although there is a cost for the boot camp, this takes into account the costs of running one of these with the time and effort that it takes to plan and follow through with it to make sure we can get the best out of people.”
