‘Mayor should be given second term’

I WOULD like to support the suggestion in Mrs Anne Sharratt’s letter in last week’s paper, that the current Town Mayor – Cllr Stephen Wales – should be invited to serve a second year as Mayor.

Not only is this courtesy being offered in our own local area, I understand that it is happening across the country as well.

To serve as Mayor is not only an honour, but also means getting out and about meeting the community, visiting various organisations and raising money for charity.

Cllr Wales has not been able to do most of the things he is meant to do, but has also missed out on the pleasure of being able to do so.

I hope our Town Council will recognise this and propose his reelection at their AGM.
