Checkley thirds net six wicket win despite rain delay

IN Division Seven, Checkley thirds were not blown off course by a rain delay in their win at home against Onneley.

Onneley seconds has reached 2109 thanks to Sohail Hussain’s 52, 50 from Ash Hall and Adam Hussain’s 41. Jason Carrigan scooped 3-22.

A rain break revised Checkley’s that to 163 off 31 overs... and they secured a six-wicket win with eight balls remaining.

Carrigan showed his all-round credential­s with 66, while Taiyub Rehman (31no) saw the job through.

Oakamoor thirds rose to the challenge of a tough run chase to win at Woore seconds in NSSCL Division Eight.

The visitors were set 218 for victory... and walked away with a four-wicket success.

Jonathan Wood’s 104, which contained 16 fours, was instrument­al, as was Jacob Fullick’s 39 and Gregor Hayes’ 27, as Oakamoor won in the last of their 40 overs.

Amy Griffiths claimed 3-40 for Woore, who had earlier seen openers Michael Burton (55) and Andrew Burton (54) notch half-centuries in their 217 all out.

Elliot Jackson and Peter Walford took 4-36 and 3-30 respective­ly.

Cheadle made it a hat-trick of away wins with victory at Hem Heath fourths.

Cheadle thirds posted 142 all out on the back of Sam Akram’s 30 and 26 from Sam Cliffe.

Dean Baxter (4-29) and Nikita Sayer (3-16) shared seven wickets.

Jack Lewis (39) and Michael Griffiths (27) were in good touch after tea, although Akram scooped 3-9 to skittle the hosts for 121.

There was a home win in the division as Stafford fourths saw off Church Eaton seconds.

Andrew Fuller’s 34, allied to 31 apiece from Jake Bartlett and Joseph

Glayshier enabled Stafford to reach 180-7.

Toby Horton’s 69 fronted the Church Eaton reply, but Trevor Stewart’s 4-30 restricted them to 1628 at stumps.

· IN Division Nine, Oakamoor fourths enjoyed a resounding 10-wicket win at home against their Meakins counterpar­ts.

Andrew Stevenson and Mikey Edwards both took 3-10 - and Jack Day added 3-16 - as Meakins were bundled out for 51.

James Wright (27no) and Charlie Allcock (24no) soon had Oakamoor celebratin­g.
