Oakamoor 2nds triumph at Hanford

-

IN NSSCL Division Six Oakamoor seconds won at Hanford.

Half-centuries from Callum Lowe (55) and Alfie Walford (52) were backed up by Dan James’ 35 as Oakamoor posted 185-8.

Syed Haider Bukhari (3-22) was the pick of the Hanford attack.

Shahid Mahmood (33) led the Hanford run chase, but wickets fell at regular intervals to hamper their bid.

And their innings came to a conclusion on 129 as Jack Palmer’s 3-25, plus two wickets each from Mike Worthington and Matthew Carnwell, did the damage.

The Stafford club derby went the way of the second team as they saw off the challenge of the thirds.

And it was James Faulconbridge who was the man of the moment as he made an unbeaten century to set them on their way to securing the club bragging rights.

Faulconbridge ended up on 109 not out, hitting 18 fours and one six, to power Stafford seconds to 246-6.

He shared a fourthwicket stand of 152 with Ali Siddique, who made 83 - and in quick time, facing just 64 balls and accumulating 10 fours and one six.

Oscar Bell and James Hughes both took two wickets for the thirds.

Dan Howe (36), Andy Kirkbride (35) and Hughes (28) did their best to keep their side in contention, but Sam Haynes’ 3-19 and a Faulconbridge brace left the third team all out for 175.

Dean Tooth just missed out on a ton in Moddershall & Oulton fifths’ win at Endon.

Tooth needed only 70 balls to make 98 - hitting 10 fours and five sixes - in the Modd men’s 223-6.

Stephen Powell weighed in with 55 as he joined Tooth in putting on 144 for the second wicket. Steven Joddrell took 3-30 for the home side.

Guy Tinwell (49no) and Alex Dutton (31) impressed with the bat in reply, but Endon drew stumps on 152-6. Daniel Stevenson claimed 3-29 for the victorious Modd men.
