Matt Taylor’s unbeaten 90 steers Checkley seconds to seven wicket win

A COMPOSED 90 not out by Matt Taylor steered Checkley seconds to a seven wicket win at Crewe in NSSCL Division Three

The hosts batted first and Louis Bacon hit 102, the backbone of Crewe’s 198-8 from their 40 overs.

Checkley had few issues knocking off the runs, achieving a seven-wicket win with three overs in the bank.

Matt Taylor hit 90 not out, featuring nine fours, while Ben Carrigan chipped in with 51.

Stone SP seconds made light of a rain interruption to pocket a 10-wicket home victory over their Audley counterparts in.

Audley had amassed 161 all out on the back of Gary Boyles and Richard Beckett making 41 apiece.

Robert Pochwyt (3-24) and Jack Harvey (3-25) did the damage with the ball for the hosts.

The weather saw Stone SP set a revised target of 123 in 32 overs... and they romped past the post.

James Pokora hit 13 fours in his 68 not out and opening partner William Alsbury compiled an unbeaten 44 as Stone SP crossed the line with eight overs to spare.

Meakins seconds won a highscoring home clash against Eccleshall 2nd XI.

Zafar Iqbal was on the ton trail to power Meakins to 240-9 from their 40 overs.

Iqbal, who played a matchwinning knock at Checkley the week before, smashed seven fours and nine sixes in his 104, while Tariq Mughal made 84 in quick time. Craig Sinclair scooped 3-31 for Eccleshall.

Connor Beasley constructed 75 in reply, but Iqbal’s 3-22, allied to doubles from Mughal, Usmah Mazhar and Ollie Radzins left Eccleshall all out for 207.

Cheadle seconds banked the spoils from their home meeting with Hanford.

Adam Alcock (51), Jac Bullock (41), Thomas Degg (34) and Ryan Day (30) helped Cheadle to 194-6. Arris Zaid took 3-38.

Dilmon Jacob top-scored with 40 in response, but Hanford were skittled for 113 as Jack Winfield helped himself to 4-4.

Longton won on their visit to Moddershall & Oulton seconds.

Archie Doorbar’s 29 was the principal contribution to Longton’s 138 all out, which also featured 3-11 from Joe Mason.

The Modd men would have fancied their chances at that point - and even more so when Rory Jones (30) and Jono Whalley (24) impressed in the chase.

However, Simon Elwell’s 4-13 was the decisive individual performance as the hosts were bowled out for 108.

Hem Heath were also away-day winners as they returned from Wedgwood with the points.

Rizwan Ramzan (42) and Aaron Tymczuk (30) led Wedgwood to 179-6. Khaled Ullah and Steve Pugh both struck twice.

The rain saw Hem Heath’s target reduced to 109 off 22 overs... and they knocked off the runs for the loss of four wickets.

Ben Rogerson top-scored in the successful chase with 46.
